Imprints in Time

Imprints in Time, originally uploaded by MadDog78.

We are headed to the beach and I can't wait. We haven't been back to the beach in about 9 years. We used to vacation every summer with our friends and we had the best time. There's nothing like kicking back and floating in the ocean. I really would have liked to go back to the Caribbean beaches with their tourquoise waters and white pristine beaches.

Maybe someday.

Rickshaw man

Rickshaw man, originally uploaded by MadDog78.

While wandering around downtown Beijing, I came on this rickshaw man waiting for a fare. Some of the people seemed to shy away from having their picture taken, so I surreptiously took his picture with my camera.
Beijing is an amazing city. Eight million people living in a city. Half of them drive cars, the other half ride bikes, and all of them move through the city on a daily basis.
To me, the city felt old as though it had been lived in for centuries. And it has. We went to dinner in Szechuan restaurant with some of the hotest food I've ever eaten. My lips were tingling after having the traditional fish stew.
It was so interesting to be in a part of the world that had been civilised for so much longer than my country had been in existence.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day, originally uploaded by MadDog78.

Memorial day seems to be a holiday that people no longer celebrate. We have men and women who have made the ulitmate sacrifice for our liberty and protection and yet, my fellow citizens don't seem to care. We have men like the one in the photo above, who came to the ceremony in Dublin in a wheel chair, and yet, was able to rise to hear taps played and to listen to our national anthem. We've lost over 2,000 men and women in the war in Iraq. Will they be remembered for their sacrifice? Why have people forgotten to honor our fellow citizens for their courage and deeds?

At the beach 2

At the beach 2, originally uploaded by MadDog78.

For many years now, as we vacation with our friends, I've taken a photo of Allison and Ian on the steps. I started out when they were quite young. I think this photo expresses one of the best images that I captured. Ian looks pained (I'm making him do this again) and Allison looks like she can't wait for it to be over. We've spent some great summers together over the years and we've always made some great memories.

Oh Look, a Camera

Jay, John, and Sasha at the 2006 Dubby Awards, the High School Awards banquet for the Theatre group. I've watched these three grow up over the years and they are all real hams. Give them an audience and an idea and they run with it. Break a leg, guys. I know I'll be able to say I knew you when....

Little Girl on the rocks

Little Girl on the rocks, originally uploaded by MadDog78.

This is one of my favorite images. I took an afternoon to wander around Scioto Park to get some random pictures. This little girl was wandering around the rocks on the shore of the river. It's one of those magic moments when you capture something unique. A few seconds later, she had left to go play on the swings and the moment was gone.

Welcome to my Photo Blog. I wanted to keep track of the history of some of my photos, so I've created this space. Hope you enjoy it.
